Ruiter may be answer

SIMON Grayson praised triallist Robbin Ruiter for his performance at Bradford City, hinting the Dutchman could earn himself a deal on Wearside.

Free agent goalkeeper Ruiter impressed in Sunderland’s 3-2 friendly win at Valley Parade, making a string of saves in the sec- ond half. And with the summer departures of Jordan Pickford and Vito Mannone leaving the Black Cats without a number one, 30-year-old Ruiter may fit the bill.

Grayson could now use the midweek friendly at Scunthorpe to take another look.
