Headline act forced to miss out

-

X Factor winner Matt Terry, THE headline act of Newcastle’s Party in the Park, Matt Terry, pulled out of performing on ‘doctor’s orders’.

The reigning X Factor champion was due to close the show yesterday but cancelled after falling sick with a throat infection.

However, organisers made sure the party would still go ahead with singer Mica Paris filling in as a last-minute replacement.

Although Matt was invited to come to the Town Moor event for meet and greets instead, he was said to be too ill to travel.

Organiser Christian Longshaw said: “Matt has got some form of severe throat infection that has rendered him unable to perform so these things happen, we have no control over people’s health but we were in a fortunate position that Mica Paris was available and stepped in at short notice.

“We’re delighted to have someone of that calibre to be able to step in at such short notice. We wish Matt a speedy recovery.”

The 24-year-old singer who was crowned winner of The X Factor 2016 posted a message to his fans on his Facebook page apologising for cancelling his slot.

He wrote on Friday: “Hi Guys – Due to doctors orders I’m unable to perform at Newcastle Party In The Park tomorrow. I am so, so sorry that I can’t be with you all, this was the absolute last resort and I hope you all can still enjoy your day. Lots of love MT x”

Mica Paris is best known for her top ten hit My One Temptation.
