Aleksandar Mitrovic has learned his lesson, says Benitez RAFA Benitez is confident Aleksandar Mitrovic has learned his lesson following his three-game FA ban.

The Serbia international striker is back in contention to play for Newcastle United after being suspended following a clash with West Ham United’s Manuel Lanzini.

Benitez is delighted with Mitrovic’s response after the player knuckled down and worked hard in training.

After speaking to Mitrovic, Benitez feels his striker is in a good place mentally and ready to take on Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.

Benitez said: “It’s good news. Has he learned? I think so.

“He has been training well and he’s another one who won’t be able to change the perception outside the club with a couple of games.

“Mitro has to be consistent and doing things in the right way. “He knows what he has to do.” Mitrovic feels United are still getting to grips with life in the Premier League.

He said recently: “We have signed a lot of players and they will still need time to settle in.

“There are also a few young players too.

“Last season, we played in the Championship and the team needs to adapt to the Premier League. I have a feeling we will get better as the season goes on.”
