Berwick in Border rout
HAWICK LINDEN BERWICK 5 57 BERWICK travelled to Hawick to face Linden in the Border Shield and on a 4G pitch showed the opposition a clean pair of heels by running in nine tries, including a hat-trick from Gareth Hill.
After a scrappy start, Hill went over for a try which was converted and with Cameron Rogerson adding a second almost straight from the restart, the Blacks led 0-14.
Duncan Hardie then made an interception and after playing a one-two with Jack Dalrymple, he went over to stretch the lead to 0-19.
Hawick managed to pull a try back for 5-19 but Jack Webster added another touchdown, converted by Shane Armstrong, making it 5-26 at the interval.
In the second half, Berwick’s constant pressure resulted in two early tries from Lee Douglas and Dalrymple, Armstrong kicking one conversion for 5-38.
Hill then went over for two tries to complete his hat-trick, Jamie Pick and Armstrong kicking one conversion each for 5-52.
The scoring was completed when Dalrymple went over for his second try of the match which was unconverted.
