Tell someone you love them

- By DAVID HUNTLEY Reporter david.huntley@reachplc.com

A RELATIVE of cliff fall schoolgirl Harriet Forster has urged people to “tell a loved one that you love them.”

Harriet’s aunt Bella Aris wrote the heartfelt message on a recent social media post while thanking the RNLI for their “compassionate” support.

Nine-year-old Harriet, from Oxford, was tragically killed in a rock slide while visiting the popular North Yorkshire seaside village of Staithes on August 8.

And now Ms Aris has set up a fundraising page in order to raise funds for the RNLI who offered support during her last moments.

Writing of her “creative and sparkling niece”, Ms Aris also urges people to tell a loved one that you “love them.”

Posting on Facebook, she said: “Many of you know that my beautiful, creative and sparkling niece, Harriet Forster died in a tragic accident on a beach a few weeks ago.

“This has been a huge shock to her family, friends and community.

“During the harrowing hour of her death, the RNLI gave support which was not only very professional and efficient but also deeply compassion- ate and caring.

“Harriet’s family would like to support the RNLI in continuing to save lives.

“If you would like to help them do this in Harriet’s memory see below on how you can make a contribution.

“Alternatively tell a loved one that you love them, it will mean the world to them.”

The fundraising page adds: “She is much loved and will always be remembered.”

Flowers were left at the scene in the days following the accident where Harriet suffered serious head injuries and died.

One note read “rest in peace beautiful girl” while another said “rest in paradise”.
