IF you are looking for a new house, this might take your fancy.

TV architect George Clarke has designed a set of homes at the Smith’s Dock development in North Shields and they are up for grabs from £225,000.

A new show house has now been unveiled at the site, where people will be able to see what the properties look like inside.

Mr Clarke, the star of programmes such as Channel 4’s Restoration Man, The Great British Property Scandal and George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, designed a total of 10 Fab Houses in conjunction with TDO Architecture.

They were built in a factory in the East Midlands before being transported to North Shields and assembled on site.

Sunderland-born Mr Clarke, who studied architecture at Newcastle University, said he wanted to create “proper family homes” which were bright and spacious.

The three-bedroom houses are open plan on the ground floor with a kitchen, dining and living room area, floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed timber staircases and ceilings, and parking spaces outside.

Smith’s Dock, a former shipyard, will ultimately feature around 800 TV architect George Clarke inside the house he designed on the Smith’s Dock development in North Shields homes, including 80 waterfront apartments known as Smokehouses that are currently under construction.

The Smokehouses will have a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom properties, with prices starting from £125,000.

The regeneration scheme is led by Places for People and Urban Splash.

Mr Clarke said: “The plans for the whole area make for a wonderful community.

“Smith’s Dock is an important historic site and the development is the epitome of true regeneration – with diverse home designs, sensitively designed public spaces and the reopening of the stunning waterfront.

“When complete, Smith’s Dock is going to be a great neighbourhood to live in.

“I’m proud that my Fab House design is part of it.”

The new show house will be open from Thursdays to Mondays, 11am to 6pm, for any buyers wanting to look around.
