Berwick’s first home win
BERWICK ROSS HIGH 64 17
BERWICK won their first home game of the season in East League 1 in convincing style against Ross High.
After an opening day away draw against Royal High, the Blacks were in dominant mood at Scremerston, running in ten tries, with Jamie Pick bagging a hat-trick.
It was Pick who opened the scoring, with Andrew Skeen converting, and with Skeen also adding the extras to touchdowns from Rory Hindhaugh and Forrest, Berwick were 21-0 to the good.
The visitors scored an unconverted try to reduce the deficit to 21-5, but further tries from Pick and Gareth Hill, both converted by Skeen, meant the home side were in control at 35-5 at half-time.
Early in the second half Wilson went over for a try, converted by Skeen, and with Hindhaugh and Tommy McColl both going over for unconverted tries, Berwick found themselves well on the way to victory at 52-5.
Pick then went over for his third try to complete his hat-trick, unconverted for 57-5.
Ross High pulled a score back with a converted touchdown for 57-12, but Jack Dalrymple had the last word for Berwick with their tenth try, Skeen converting for 64-12.
The victory puts Berwick third.
