Valencia exit rocks Neville

-

New Valencia boss Gary Neville suffered a disappointing defeat in his first match in charge last night.

The Spaniards lost 2- 0 at home to Group H’s bottom club, Lyon, to dash hopes of Champions League progress – and he must now regroup his squad for the Europa League.

Lyon, who had picked up just one point from their previous five matches, went ahead just before half- time through Gnarly Cornet ( 37), with Alexandre Lacazette ( 76) wrapping things up late on.

Gent beat Group H winners Zenit St Petersburg 2- 1 to become Belgium’s first side through to the knockout stage in 15 years. Laurent Depoitre and Danijel Milicevic netted.

Dynamo Kiev beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 1- 0 with a Denys Garmash goal to clinch second place in Group G.
