What to expect over the weekend

The skies over Sunderland were set to stage some spectacula­r flying action this weekend as the airshow continues. Flying displays are set to run today and tomorrow from 12.30-5.15pm, but again all displays and flying times are subject to change due to weather or operationa­l conditions. Here’s what you can expect to see:

Sunday only: Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG15 Mitchell 320 – B-25 Mitchell Organisers are using the airshow to promote what is great about Sunderland, including a Twitter thundercla­p that took place at 5pm yesterday. It saw scores of people and businesses tweet what they love about Sunderland using #WearHere. Yesterday also saw the crew of HMS Bulwark enjoy a Freedom of the City parade through Durham. Today and tomorrow, airshow visitors will see the crew display the ship’s amphibious capabiliti­es as landing craft deliver Royal Marines and Viking tracked vehicles against an ‘enemy’ position.
