Atkinson keen to get something out of clash

-

Durham Women winger Jordan Atkinson says her side are raring to go ahead of their trip to face tabletoppers Yeovil Town Ladies this weekend.

A positive performance in a 0-0 draw with Bristol City Women last weekend means spirits in the camp are high, and Atkinson is eager to see the Wildcats put away the chances they have been creating.

Speaking ahead of the game, she said: “I’m looking forward to it.

“We put in a good display on Sunday so we’re raring to get going again.

“They’re a very good side and we know what we’ll come up against.

“But we’ll go into training this week and work as hard as we can.”

Durham met the Lady Glovers only four weeks ago and found themselves on the end of 2-0 defeat.

Despite the result, Atkinson feels there is a sense of frustration in the squad that they didn’t take something from the game.

“There was a lot of chances, and it was the same as the Yeovil games last season,” she said.

“We should have taken our chances really so it was frustrating.

“But if we can go and put that right on Sunday we’ll show what a good team we are.”

The trip to Huish Park means a long trip for the Wildcats, but Atkinson insists that won’t be an issue: “I love away games.

“It is a long journey but all the lasses get on really well and it’s a laugh.”

Durham are currently sitting fourth in FA WSL 2 as the business end of the season approaches, and Atkinson knows every point will count: “It’s important to get something on the board this weekend.

“We just need to get out there, prove what we can do and hopefully get something.”
