Ashwin ace in India rout

Ravichandr­an Ashwin followed up his century by taking seven West Indies wickets to help guide India to victory in the first Test by an innings and 92 runs.

Having made 113 with the bat in India’s 566-8 declared, the off-spinner then tore into the Windies’ batting line-up in Antigua.

The hosts – all out for 243 in their first innings –were21-1headingin­to day four, still 302 runs behind, and Ashwin ensured another tough day at the crease.

India had no such trouble, with captain Virat Kohli putting together a stunning 200 from 283 balls to put the tourists in total control.

Ashwin, who failed to takeawicke­tinWestInd­ies’ first innings, then came to the fore to earn a five-for and a hundred in the same Test for the second time. Carlos Brathwaite (51no) briefly rallied West Indies in a ninth-wicket partnershi­p of 95.
