West Boldon Residents’ Association will hold a strawberry coffee morning, raffle, talk and presentation by Major Anthony Tate, Retired Household Cavalry. Major Tate’s talk will give an insight into the preparation and participation of major Royal and State events as a member of the Queen’s Life Guards Mounted Household Cavalry. Entry is £2 per person, which includes strawberry scone, tea and coffee and free raffle ticket. Any donation in support of Military Charity will be gratefully received. A knitting group meets on the second Saturday of each month in North Street Methodist Church, Silksworth, from 10am to noon. New members are always welcome, take along your own knitting or knit for charity. Next meeting will be on Saturday, August 13.
Silksworth IM Church is hosting the Churches Together Holiday Club this week. Seventy-five children and their families will be attending each morning Monday to Friday. A lot of preparation has taken place by leaders and helpers from all the churches to enable the children to have a great time and an understanding of the messages in the Bible stories. Hopefully, weather permitting, they will be able to enjoy some activities in the garden.
