Pictured are members of the Tidy Fatfield group, which was set up in April 2015 . The group holds a monthly litter picks on the first Sunday of each month, meeting at the Fatfield shops at 10am and new volunteers are always welcome. In addition members individually pick litter on an almost daily basis . Since setting up, the group has collected more than 500 bags of rubbish. Washington Arts Centre is offering a range of art, music and drama workshops for children throughout the summer holidays. Sessions for eight to 14-year-olds will run every Wednesday from 10am to noon and include Samba Drumming tomorrow. You will learn drumming patterns and skills with professional drummer Daniel Dixon. This is a perfect session for beginners. On August 3, learn circus including juggling and plate spinning with ringmaster Marty Bloomfield. Arts and crafts will be held on August 10, when you can make your own unique creation to take home with the help of artist Kit Kingsbury. Painting and drawing takes place on August 17 with artist Vince Cooper. There will be jewellery making on August 24, when you can learn how to make quirky jewellery with Sophie Lisa Beresford. There will be drama on August 31, when you can join award-winning Neil Armstrong for some fun filled drama games and workshops. Washington Libraries are also running a series of arts and crafts events over the summer holidays: Washington Millennium Centre Library will host a session on Monday, August 1, between 2.30pm and 3.30pm called Hat Attack. This is a free session for all children but under eights must be accompanied by an adult. Washington Town Centre Library will run a session on Thursday between 2.15pm and 3.15pm called Dream catcher and on Tuesday, August 2, from 2.15pm to 3.15pm it will be crafty fox. Again this is a free session and under eights must be accompanied by an adult.
