Battle of the monster trucks is on!
The world’s heaviest working monster truck will be roaring into Sunderland this weekend.
Weighing in at 7.5tonnes, Big Pete will be taking on 5tonne opponent Grim Reaper in a Monster Truck arena, at North Hylton Road, in Castletown.
As well as taking on each other, the trucks will be crushing caravans, jumping over cars and taking part in a tug of war in the motor show.
Driver Michael Murty said: “It’s great fun. In my 15 years as a driver I’ve crushed 7,000 cars and hundreds of caravans. Monster Trucks are even more popular at the minute because of the Blaze and the Monster Machines cartoon, and the kids love being able to see the cars in action.
“They can have their photos taken with the cars and meet the drivers.”
As well as the giant trucks, visitors can enjoy bike entertainment from the Xtreme Stunt Team featuring seven times European champion rider Dan Clark.
Michael said: “The stunt team are unique in that they use two styles of riding: trial bike and an urban push bike.
“They really pit man against machine and see if the man on the push bike can do what the stunt bike can do.
The Monster Truck and Trial Bikes Shows will take place from noon to 4.30pm on Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23, as well as Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October, 30.
Entry to the shows are £5 until 5pm and £1 from 5pm to 8pm.
The shows are being held as part of the Nobles Funfair, which is at the Castletown site daily from today until Sunday, October 30.
