Fall for woodland walks this autumn

-

Every season delivers its own unique gift: the warm summer sun, the lush green spring and the first fresh blanket of winter snow. Now as the temperature dips, it is autumn’s turn to treat us to its personal gift – a rich tapestry of warm colour in the form of vibrant red, warm orange and bright yellow leaves, with crisp mornings and cool starry nights.

Whether it’s a morning meander with the dog, a weekend jog to get the muscles working or a wander with the children collecting conkers or picking up leaves for an autumn-themed masterpiece, you’ll find our beautiful woodlands are at their best right now.

For far from shutting down for the winter, the woods are alive with colour and activity – from squirrels harbouring their winter food, to the bright coloured fungi sprouting at the foot of a tree and even the sparkling dew on a spider’s web, there’s always something different to see.

Plus the temperature’s usually just right: not so cold you need your heaviest winter coat yet cool enough for a brisk walk without overheating.

Now the Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity, has unveiled a colourful autumn discovery pack full of information and ideas aimed at helping us make the most of our local wood.

Just register online to get your copy - walk on the wild side, and fall for autumn in your local woodland.
