Frost sends a chill up Helford as slick Colliery romp it

Murton Colliery surprised Peterlee Helford United with a convincing 3-0 away success in the Tommy Burrell Memorial Cup second round.

Barry Frost, Carl Thomas and sub Callum Milne came up trumps for Colliery, with Andy Upperton man of the match.

Jamie Yorke shone in vain for United, who could not beat visiting keeper Aiden Vout.

Horden Cricket Club progressed to the George Ivey Memorial Cup semi-finals, courtesy of a hard-fought 2-0 triumph against Peterlee Central Club.

Ryan Ellwood shone for Central, but goals from Daniel Gething and substitute Kyle Johns steered the cricketers through, with Michael Ridley starring.

Man of the match Scott Henderson pounced for the only goal as Easington Lane WMC pipped neighbours Hetton Social to claim a lastfour spot in the Cyril Dunn Memorial Cup.

Easington Welfare also edged through 1-0, as sub Ryan Chambers sank Peterlee Oaklands.

Jordan Williams stood out for Welfare, with John Hunt top performer for First Division leaders Oaklands.

Easington CIU and Shotton Comrades both booked their places in the Premier Division Cup semi-finals.

Man of the match Tom Goundry bagged a fine brace to inspire CIU to a 3-1 success at high-flying Peterlee Catholic Club.

Liam Adamson also netted, while star man Alan Smith hit Catholic’s consolation.

Comrades, meanwhile, saw off Easington HMS Victory 5-2. Tom Bott bagged both goals for Victory, but Scott Danks, Conor Beeston, Lewis McGeoch and twogoal substitute Jak Hanson steered Comrades through, with Tony Hewitt star man.

Seaham Marlborough squeezed past Easington Southside to move into the Division One Cup’s last four.

Andy Johnston and Alex Hutchinson did the damage, with Ryan Martin star man.

Josh Broom shone for Southside, but they could only manage one goal, thanks to Ian Craggs.

New Seaham Westlea walloped Hetton Fox and Hounds 4-0 in their Division Two Cup quarter-final.

Ethan McGhin, Josh Elliott, sub Brennan Yuill and Karl Chambers all struck, with Daniel Flanagan man of the match.

Acre Rigg Celtic also won through, beating Haswell Oddfellows Arms 4-2.

Chris Collings (2), Graham Hornsby and Scott Jackson plundered the goals, with Matty Pattinson again star man.

Wingate Grange secured their first win in Division One, at the fifth attempt.

They triumphed 5-2 at Murton New Hesledon, who slipped to the bottom of the table in the process.

Star man Stephen Fletcher bagged a double, with sub Michael Lee adding a fine hat-trick.

South Hetton Cricket Club fought hard for their 2-2 draw at Wingate Plough Inn.

Horden CW Supporters romped to an 11-0 victory at lowly Seaham The George to climb into third place in the Premier Division.

Keeper Kevin McCluskey was outstanding for George, but had no answer to star strikers James Connor, who hit five goals, and man of the match Jack Pounder, who grabbed four for Horden.

Sub Kieran Thompson also got in on the act to leave George without a win in four league games so far.
