Pulis expects big response from Albion

-

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis is looking for a response from his players in tomorrow’s home Premier League match against Sunderland – following last week’s 4-0 thumping at Tottenham.

The Black Cats head to The Hawthorns aiming to climb out of the drop zone, but they will face a fired-up Albion side.

Pulis has hailed his players’ work on the training ground and told wba.co.uk: “The Tottenham game is a reality check in lots of respect for everybody, The players have trained well this week.

“After every little fall, you want a reaction and hopefully we’ll get that on Saturday.”

Sunderland have managed just four wins all season and have a poor recent record at The Hawthorns, but Pulis reckons that old friend David Moyes will ensure a testing time for his men.

“They’ve picked up. David’s a good manager, a good football man, so we expect a tough game,” said the Welshman, whose Baggies sit in eighth place in the table.

“I’m sure they’ll come and make it very difficult for us.

“They’re a tough team, whichever way you cook it, to play against. They’ll bring a full quota of supporters and they demand their team to have a god and I’m sure that’s what Dave will want - he’ll want them to come here and really have a go.

“We need everybody together – we need the players to play well, we need them to work hard and we need the crowd to be with us.

“In the second half against Tottenham, the crowd were fantastic for us and we need that now.

“We need that togetherness as we turn the corner and look forward to the second half of the season.”

Misfit Manchester United’s Dutch forward Memphis Depay, 22, is set to join French club Lyon, with the transfer fee set to reach up to £21.7million.
