Students prove to be a cut above
Students and staff from East Durham College’s hair and beauty department are celebrating scooping an impressive eight medals at the AHT regional finals 2017.
The annual prestigious competition sees college students from across the region compete against each other in a range of different hairdressing, barbering, beauty and makeup disciplines.
This year’s event saw East Durham College students compete against 12 other colleges and were thrilled to leave with three gold medals, three silvers, a bronze and the inaugural Bobby Mukabaa ‘Fabulous Darling’ memorial award.
East Durham College hairdressing lecturer, Angela Johnston, said: “Every single one of our students who took part should be incredibly proud of their performance and the professionalism.”
The team is now preparing for the AHT National Finals at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens on March 13.
