Safer internet day at school
Youngsters at a Wearside secondary school had the chance to learn more about keeping safe online. The pupils at Washington School took part in a specialised day educating them about computer use and bullying. The students at the Spout Lane school took part in the event in support of Safer Internet Day earlier this month. Nicola Williamson, a member of staff at the school, said during the day Northumbria Police went along to talk to the young people about ‘sexting’.
There were also lessons throughout the week with a focus on staying safe online, and the schools anti-bullying mentors used photos to highlight how what you see online is not always what is happening in reality when you see the bigger picture.
