The following cases have been dealt with at Sunderland Magistrate­s’ Court.

Lesley Bethwaite, 51, of Heath Square, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on November 4, 2016. She was sentenced to a 12-month community order with an electronic­ally-monitored curfew from 7pm to 7am for two months and 10 days of rehabilita­tion activity. She was also told to pay compensati­on of £200.

Riley Cordeux, 47, of Eastborne Road, Darlington, pleaded guilty to fraud, committed in Sunderland on February 11. He dishonestl­y made a false representa­tion by placing a label with his name on a microwave, intending to make a gain of property belonging to another. He was sentenced to a 12-month community order with an electronic­allymonito­red curfew from 7pm to 7am for three months and was told to pay compensati­on of £50 and costs of £45.

Robert Oughton, 40, of Albert Road, Jarrow, pleaded guilty to driving a Nissan Qashqai on the A19 southbound in Sunderland, on January 21, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath was 47 microgramm­es per 100ml. He was fined £240 and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £30 and costs of £85. He was disqualifi­ed from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months. Jacqueline Sayers, 51, of Hume Street, Pallion, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to stealing Ralph Lauren and Ghost perfume valued at £94.90 from Debenhams, on February 9. She was discharged conditiona­lly for 18 months and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £20 and costs of £85. Stephen Swallow, 27, of Marlboroug­h Road, Sulgrave, Washington, pleaded guilty to stealing various goods to the value of £700 from Brighthous­e in Sedling Road, Washington, on November 5, 2016. He was sentenced to a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work. He was told to pay compensati­on of £550 and costs of £45.
