COURT ROUND-UP
The following cases have been dealt with at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court.
Lesley Bethwaite, 51, of Heath Square, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on November 4, 2016. She was sentenced to a 12-month community order with an electronically-monitored curfew from 7pm to 7am for two months and 10 days of rehabilitation activity. She was also told to pay compensation of £200.
Riley Cordeux, 47, of Eastborne Road, Darlington, pleaded guilty to fraud, committed in Sunderland on February 11. He dishonestly made a false representation by placing a label with his name on a microwave, intending to make a gain of property belonging to another. He was sentenced to a 12-month community order with an electronicallymonitored curfew from 7pm to 7am for three months and was told to pay compensation of £50 and costs of £45.
Robert Oughton, 40, of Albert Road, Jarrow, pleaded guilty to driving a Nissan Qashqai on the A19 southbound in Sunderland, on January 21, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath was 47 microgrammes per 100ml. He was fined £240 and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £30 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months. Jacqueline Sayers, 51, of Hume Street, Pallion, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to stealing Ralph Lauren and Ghost perfume valued at £94.90 from Debenhams, on February 9. She was discharged conditionally for 18 months and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £20 and costs of £85. Stephen Swallow, 27, of Marlborough Road, Sulgrave, Washington, pleaded guilty to stealing various goods to the value of £700 from Brighthouse in Sedling Road, Washington, on November 5, 2016. He was sentenced to a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work. He was told to pay compensation of £550 and costs of £45.
