Sunderland Echo

Need to plan for future

-

With news that it would cost £60millions, together with the first realistic description of this section of new road joining with the Vaux site, in the report by Petra Silfverskiold, Echo readers were given the opportunity realise (if they afford the time to think) that when phase 3 is complete, they have all been taken for a ride along a devious detour around New Pallion Road, which is part of the SSTC already.

The re-alignment of St Mary’s Way, via the south side of the Vaux site, is a planning blunder which maximises (not diminishes) traffic congestion with all traffic from every direction into the roundabout at Silksworth Row, St Michael’s Way and St Mary’s Way.

With the demise of Vaux brewery in 1999, a practical implementation of the genuine Blue route bridge option from the SoL area to the Vaux site became available and the opportunity is still there, providing that Siglion planners do not have their way.

Plans for roads and bridges should be made for the next 100 years or more.

Both the Wearmouth and Queen Alexandra bridges are inadequate for 2oth and 21st centuries.

You know why ? The bins are very hard to open to put dog dirt in.

I have spoken to people at Sunderland Council about this and they are just not bothered saying it would cost too much to replace the dog bins.

So until fines are dished out to dog owners who don’t pick up after their dogs we have to dance around the dog dirt.

Just one more point, do dog owners realise that a killer disease named para virus is a killer to dogs?

This is spread by dogs standing on dog dirt, so until Sunderland Council starts handing out fines to owners this will continue.
