Brooke and Winthrop double up to dazzle Detached in romp

Ryhope Top House shocked Premier side Farringdon Detached with an emphatic 6-1 win to advance in the Total Sport Challenge Trophy.

Elliot Tench, Carl Young, Paul Brooke’s brace and a Josh Winthrop double won it for the Ryhope side, while Davey Stevens replied.

Thorney Close Inn legend Paul Hodgson found the net against Premier club Myers.

But his joy was shortlived as Myers star Adam Drysdale popped up with a devastatin­g double to clinch a 2-1 win. Keeper Martin Jackson shone for Thorney.

Hylton Castle TWR are now in pole position for the Premier Division title after beating fierce rivals TS Potters 1-0 away.

Marc Moon fired the only goal for Hylton Castle, who are three points clear of second-top Potters and have two matches in hand. James Cassidy shone for TS Potters but could not find the net.

The Lukes were on fire for Farra Paragon ISL as Luke Richardson and Luke Page both scored to sink Southwick 2-1.

Paul Muir came off the bench to reply, but it was too little too late for Southwick, whose starvman was Jake Fowler. Kyran Whitehead was outstandin­g for Paragon.

Sunderland Railway Club ran out impressive 5-3 winners against The Victory Club to consolidat­e third place in Division Two.

Railway had the ideal start, Anth Rogerson slotting home Dean Smith’s excellent through ball after two minutes. Rogerson soon added a second, putting him top of the division’s goalscorer chart.

The Victory Club piled on the pressure but missed some good chances and Railway capitalise­d, with Rogerson setting up debutant Smith, signed from Premier club The Ashbrooke, to clinically make it3-0.

Smith won a 50-50 with the keeper to add a fourth goal before Victory responded well with a Dean Machin brace.

A mistake at the back led to a 45-yard finish into an open net, quickly followed by a screamer of a finish from the outside the box.

Sub Andrew Steele showed excellent feet to beat three defenders and power home tRailway’s fifth goal, before Scott Hunter’s delightful lob reduced the deficit late on.

Star Daniel Tough put his body on the line many a time to ensure Railway’s success.

Mill View CIU need to look over their shoulder after another defeat, 4-2 at New Town.

They are now joint secondbott­om and could face the drop unless they start picking up points.

David Raeper and Stephen Lewis struck for Mill, with Liam Huntrod starring. Lewis Jopling, Alex Dobinson, Elliott Salicki and David Laidler notched for New Town.

Another convincing win for The Stella extended their lead at the top.

Basement boys Lakeside SSC were crushed 6-0. Star man Gav Teasdale opened the scoring, with Kris Thompson and Lewis Monaghan making it3-0atthebrea­k.

It was more of the same in the second half as Stephen Rutter and a double from James McKenna finished the Lakeside off. Jordan Pfendt shone for the visitors.

Washington Colliery had to work hard for their 3-2 win at Cherry Tree, climbing into second place in the process.

Cherry Tree shocked them early on, with Liam Middlemas hitting a brace. But the promotion hopefuls hit back andsealeda­finewin,withJon Rowntree, David Mould and Kelvin Briggs netting. Ryan Mason starred for Colliery.

Hendon Athletic succumbed 3-1 to AFC Wearside.

Jesse Cutter put Athletic in front after a great spell of dominance, then injuries hit Hendon hard and AFC Wearside took advantage. Josh Campbell bagged a double and a late Richard Wright put the game to bed. James Gollagly starred for AFC, with Bri Carter best for the visitors.

Washington New Tavern drew 0-0 at Pennywell Comrades, with Shaun Davies their star performer.
