Carpet Bowls: Do you have any experience in carpet bowls? St Mary and St Peter’s Community has been given carpet bowls equipment and is looking to set up a new group. If you would be interested, contact Sarah (number above).

Humbledon Methodist Church runs a number of weekly activities including Monday: Brownies at 6.30pm; Tuesday: Weight Watchers from 6pm; Wednesday: Open door from 11am to 1pm, coffee and light lunches served, starting tomorrow; Thursday: Slimming World from 6.30pm; Sunday: Worship at 10.45am Sunday of Lent), is Mothering Sunday and services at Christ Church, New Seaham, are: Holy Communion at 10am and evening prayer at 6pm. Mothering Sunday flowers will be blessed and distribute­d. All are welcome to join in the celebratio­n. There will be the usual Wednesday morning service of Holy Communion at 10am on Wednesday, followed by tea, coffee and biscuits for those who can stay for a chat. Everyone is welcome.

Monday to Friday, 11am to 3pm and Saturday, noon to 4pm, until Saturday, April 1, at the Art Block, Church Street, Seaham. You can view an exhibition highlighti­ng the history and architectu­re of Seaham, their proprietor­s and customers. Entry is free.

Each Wednesday during Lent, at 7pm, there is a service of Compline held in St Mary the Virgin, Old Seaham, and every Friday in Lent, at 3pm, at All Saints, Deneside, there is a service of the Stations of the Cross. On Mothering Sunday there will be the usual services with the blessing and distributi­on of Mothering Sunday flowers.

The next monthly Friday lunch at Christ Church will be held on Friday in the church hall, serving between 11.30am and 1pm. Go along to enjoy the company, a good meal and a flutter on the tombola and Easter chocolate raffle. Prizes for the raffle and tombola are always welcome.

A hot tasty meal awaits you every Thursday, noon, at Eastlea Community Centre, Stockton Road, Seaham. Cost is £4.50 for dinner, dessert and tea/coffee. A friendly welcome awaits you. Ring 0191 5812399 if you would like more informatio­n.

Dawdon (2nd Seaham) Scout Group, based at The Farn Scouting Centre, Parkside Road, would appreciate help from the people of Seaham in collecting Sainsbury’s ‘Active Kids’ Vouchers (currently available). Vouchers will be used to obtain equipment and materials which will enable our youngsters to gain skills and experience. Contact Group Scout Leader on 5810419 for collection of vouchers.
