Dixon and Hoque ease league leaders to convincing win

In the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League, breaks of 23 and 20 saw Stephen Thompson get leaders Washington Snooker off to a good start at home to Glendale.

An excellent 56 break saw Gavin Dixon win the second frame before Norman Leslie pinched the third frame on the final black.

Roful Hoque won a close fourth frame against Paul Atkinson, before John Danby/ John Wiseman won Glendale a consolatio­n point, beating Dixon/Hoque 51-34 to reduce the defeat to 4-1.

South Hylton started strongly against Whitburn with Adam Smith winning the first frame.

A 28 break helped Mark Fox quickly level the match before Graeme Ablett won the third frame.

John Smith dominated the fourth frame before and excellent 61 break by Adam Smith, when paired with Graham Rutland, won Hylton the pairs, beating Joe Cromby/Mark Fox and reduce the defeat to 3-2.

Seaham Conservati­ves A stormed to a 5-0 win over Biddick B, thanks to Michael Simpson, Peter Mills, Trevor Walton, John Temple, and in the pairs, Paul Cobb/Peter Straughan.

Steels entertaine­d Pennywell Comrades and got off to an excellent start through Tom Ayre.

Jimmy Gales increased Steels’ lead before Ray Charlton Junior won the third frame.

Andrew Doran pulled one back for Pennywell, before a 31 break by Ray Charlton Junior, when paired with Ray Charlton Senior, helped win the pairs for the 4-1 win

Biddick B romped to a 5-0 win over Seaham Conservati­ves B, with Colin Dobson, Manna Singh, Jimmy Ashcroft, Tony Grimes and Bobby Carne/Justin Ebdy on target.

The match between The Hetton Centre and Lumley was expected to be close and the singles alternated into a 2-2 situation before Lumley took the pairs for the overall 3-2 result.

Adrian Daniels got Mill View off to an excellent start at home to Murton Colliery winning the first frame against Ryan Lowes on the final black 53-47.

Lee Dixon won another close frame, beating Steven Cook 57-43.

John Spruce potted well to beat Eddie Williamson in the third frame, before Stephen Chandler dominated the fourth.

In the pairs, Eddie Williamson/Steven Cook got Murton a consolatio­n point, beating John Spruce/Norman Brown to reduce the defeat to 4-1.
