Boldon Churches Together continue their weekly Lenton half hour service followed by a light lunch of soup or sandwiches on Thursday this week at West Boldon St Nicholas Church and at The Sacred Heart Church on New Road, Boldon Colliery, on Thursday, April 6, at noon. A donation towards the cost will be accepted which will be divided equally in aid of CAFOD and Christian Aid.

Easter services at The Sacred Heart RC Church on New Road in Boldon Colliery are as follows: Maundy Thursday Mass of the Last Supper at 7pm followed by refreshmen­ts, Holy Hour at The Altar of Repose 8.30pm to 9.30pm, ending with night prayers; Good Friday 3pm The Lord’s Passion, Holy Saturday Easter Vigil at 7pm. adults £4, children £2.

Every Tuesday in Lent at St John the Evangelist there will be a mass at 6pm, 6.45pm Stations of the Cross, and at 7.30pm a service of Compline and a Homily. Each Wednesday during Lent, at 7pm, there is a service of Compline held in St Mary the Virgin, Old Seaham, and every Friday in Lent, at 3pm, at All Saints’, Deneside, there is a service of the Stations of the Cross.

A hot meal awaits you every Thursday at noon in Eastlea Community Centre, Stockton Road. Cost is £4.50 for dinner, dessert and tea or coffee. Ring 0191 581 2399 if you would like more informatio­n.

Dawdon (2nd Seaham) Scout Group, based at The Farn Scouting Centre, Parkside Road, would appreciate donations of Sainsbury’s ‘Active Kids’ Vouchers, which will be used to obtain equipment and materials which will enable youngsters to gain skills and experience. Members of the Bridge Club meet every Monday and Wednesday at 6.30pm and new players are invited to attend. For further informatio­n, contact Jennifer Clasper on 523 6512.

A mixed exercise class, suitable for all abilities, is held every Monday, from 1pm to 2pm in Seaton Village Community Centre. Session costs £2. Ring 581 5316 for more details.

Dawdon (2nd Seaham Scout Group caters for children aged from six to 14½ – Beaver, Cub and Scout Sections. Meetings are held on Friday evenings in The Farn Scouting Centre, Parkside Road ( just west of the fire station). Interested adults are needed to volunteer with the Scout Troop.
