An amazing year so far for JB Skills and city employers

-

The last ten weeks since the launch of the Wear In campaign has seen many changes in the run up to April 1 and the start of the Levy.

A lot of companies with wage bills of over £3m a year who have to pay the Levy are now on the brink of their funds being drawn down and the next few months will prove interesting. Changes to funding, courses available, providers and certifying bodies has been motivating to watch.

For those below the Levy who don’t have to pay, the really good news from JB Skills perspective is that training has remained a priority in the area. All great news for young people looking to start apprenticeships, for those already employed wanting to train and for anyone wanting to improve themselves and their future careers. JB Skills Training Ltd itself has had an amazing 2017 so far. As well as becoming certified as a Microsoft Certified Academy, the company was also named as the Best Newcomer in the North East Business Awards. Stiff opposition from other local companies was fought off to bring the award home from an event held at the Stadium of Light.

As one of the leading training providers in the region, the company is currently delivering over 450 qualifications across the UK from a range of courses and Levels including Management, Team Leading, Business Admin, Customer Service, Social Media, Food Production and Cooking, Kitchen Services, IT, Health and Social Care, Personal Training, Performing and Manufacturing, Business Improvement and Warehousing.

These qualifications are being delivered in many local, regional and UK based companies from many different industries.

The 50-plus strong team also delivers function skills in maths and English to thousands of learners a year across the UK and further afield.

Managing director Dave Macmillan said: “It has been a pleasure to link up with the Sunderland Echo to encourage everyone to keep training, keep taking on apprentices and keep investing in the future of your business in Sunderland.

“Wear In has hit home with many companies large and small, and all of our team wish them luck for the future. As a company JB Skills is thriving and we want to ensure other companies in the area benefit!”
