Creating such gems from nature’s treasure trove

-

Seaham Waves creates handmade jewellery from sea glass.

You can now visit us in our studio, the only shop in Seaham (the source of English sea glass) that specialises in sea glass and sea glass jewellery.

The sea glass is collected from beaches along the North East of England’s coastline and Seaham Waves transforms it into unique pieces of jewellery.

The pieces of sea glass found on Seaham beach are a result of glass waste from the Candlish Glass Factory at Seaham (1850s1920s) when the factory would dispose of its waste into the sea.

This means that the area is one of only a handful of places in the world where sea glass can be found with unique patterns and colours.

As a result, some of the pieces of glass are over 100 years old – and are true treasures from the sea.

“The glass featured in our jewellery is waste glass that has been smoothed and rounded by the force of the North Sea’s wave action on the beach which results in smooth, frosted, pebble-like stones which has been expertly drilled or set into unique settings, to create beautiful one of a kind pieces of eco-friendly, recycled jewellery.
