Win: Two pairs of tickets to see an Evening with Mozart

-

Bishopwearmouth Choral Society is presenting an Evening with Mozart concert in Sunderland Minster on Saturday, April 8 at 7.30pm - and you could be there for free. The society will perform Mozart’s Mass in C Minor and Solemn Vespers. The choir and orchestra will be conducted by David Murray, the society’s musical director. The soloists for this performance will be Laurie Ashworth, an experienced recitalist and highly sought-after concert artist; Samantha Price, mezzo-soprano; Richard Pinkstone, tenor and Alexander Robin Baker, baritone.

The choir began life on the 18th November 1948 when an informal meeting was held to discuss the formation of a choral society to present major choral works in Sunderland.

The prime movers were the Rector of Bishopwearmouth Church, Rev.J.F.Richardson, and Clifford Hartley, the choirmaster and organist of the church.

The formal name for the choir was agreed as Bishopwearmouth Choral Society (there was already a Sunderland Choral Society in being) though it would have no direct connection with Bishopwearmouth Church. •Tickets for an Evening with Mozart are £14 or £8 for students and unwaged. They can be bought at the door or in advance online from www.wegottickets.com/BCS.
