St Cuthbert’s Church holds worship every Sunday at 10am followed by cup of tea and biscuits and every Wednesday at 6pm. All are welcome. St Cuthbert’s Community Hall host the following activities: Monday, dance class from 4pm to 7pm; Tuesday, craft group, noon to 2pm, nearly new shop from 5.45pm to 7pm and bingo from 7pm to 8.30pm; Wednesday, dance class from 4pm to 7pm, Slimming World at 5.30 pm and 7.30 pm. Red House Methodist Church holds worship every Sunday at 10.45am, Knit and Natter with coffee every Tuesday at 2pm and Fellowship and Bible study every Wednesday at 7.30pm. The Lions Club of Sunderland held a presentati­on evening for the Boxing Day Dip in March at The Chesters. All those who won prizes for their fancy dress and for the amounts of money they raised were presented with their trophies by Lion President Peter Fielding. The Mayor of Sunderland, Councillor Alam Emmerson, and by the Leo President, Amy Davison, and Leo Vice-president Ruth Chapman. Hopefully the dip will continue as the Lions are currently in talks with another venue in mind. Richard Avenue Karate Club has four new black Belts, Josh Pool, 16, Olivia Kennedy, 12, Ricky Mendonca, 16, and James Elliott, 17. For the last five years, they have trained hard and that has now paid off. They train at Richard Avenue Junior School every Thursday from 6pm to 7.30pm. New members welcome, contact Gary on site. St Nicholas Wednesday Brownies had an Easter Bunny Night and enjoyed decorating cakes, none of which lasted until home time. They also collaged a very colourful bunny using lots and lots of cotton wool. Sunderland Minster Rainbows, part of The Girl Guiding Family, meet on a Tuesday from 6pm to 7pm and is for girls aged five to seven. Visitors are welcome, entry £4. Sunderland Minster Craft and Vintage Fayre will take place on Saturday, May 6, from 10am to 3pm. Entry for adults is 50p, and children go free. Anthony Hindmarch will give an illustrate­d talk on a Norway Holiday. A Maundy Thursday service will take place in Ewesley Road Methodist Church on Thursday at 6pm. Burn Park Methodist Church will hold an Easter coffee morning on Saturday from 10am to noon. The recent Dogs For Good Walk in Barnes Park raised £480.
