BRADLEY’S HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Brave cancer battler Bradley Lowery enjoyed a ‘lovely’ sixth birthday surrounded by friends and family.
The youngster, from Blackhall, who suffers from terminal neuroblastoma, spent yesterday morning opening cards and presents from family, friends and well-wishers.
Bradley was said to have a smile on his face despite marking his special day in hospital.
He is also set to have a tea party with loved-ones on Friday.
Bradley was admitted to hospital after taking a turn for the worse, forcing his parents to cancel a family trip to America.
A message posted on the Bradley Lowery’s fight against neuroblastoma Facebook page said: “Bradley has had a settled night and he has had a lovely morning opening cards and presents.
“He is worn out now so he is having a nap recharging his batteries for later.
“We have had lots of fun reading out his birthday wishes on his crowdfunding and birthday page.
“Keep them coming and I’ll get through as many as possible.
“Can I ask people not to inbox their birthday messages - we do appreciate you thinking of Bradley but it’s hard to keep up with them. “Thank you guys.” The page - at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ bradsbirthday - has so far at more than £5,300.
Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe also wished his “best mate” Bradley Lowery a happy sixth birthday.
The England forward posted a collage of pictures of himself with Bradley on Twitter and wrote: “Happy Birthday to my best mate @Bradleysfight. Hope you have a special day and I’ll see you later this week... #HappyBirthdayBrad”
Sunderland AFC also posted: “Many happy returns little man”.
Newcastle, Everton and Chelsea were among other clubs to wish him well, along with official England team Twitter account.
And world governing body FIFA posted: “To wish a very special young man a happy 6th birthday, head to his Facebook page #HappyBirthdayBrad”
