Robbie leads U13s triumph

Durham Under-13s held on for a 20-run friendly victory against the Cleveland Schools Cricket Associatio­n at Sedgefield.

Robbie Dawson (34 not out), Ben McKinney (21), Theo Truss (15no) and Tom Bolam (14) led Durham to 103-6 in 20 overs.

In reply, Cleveland were restricted to 83-7 as Ed Brown snatched 2-15, backed by wickets from Luke Robinson, Luke Husband, Jake Dickinson and Oscar Usher, plus a Jake Pratt run-out.

Durham Under-15s succumbed by six wickets to the Cleveland Schools Cricket Associatio­n in a midweek friendly.

Miles Birbeck hit 10 fours and a six in a brilliant 40-ball knock go 60 at No 8 as Durham posted 199-8 in their 40 overs.

Finn Usher (29) and Lewis Williams (20) and Lachlan Marron (15) offered the best support, with Siraj Khan taking 3-22.

Cleveland enjoyed 61 from Lewis Beaumont and 49 from Josh Chisholm as they won by six wickets with three balls to spare.

Finn Usher grabbed 2-33, with Lewis Simpson and Matthew Ward also striking.

Durham Under-15 Girls enjoyed their first victory of the season in the ECB Women’s County Championsh­ip Division A against Lancashire at Lintz.

Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat, posting 157-6 in their 40 overs, opener Molly Gwynne top-scoring with 55 from 116 balls, backed by Anjalie Singh (24).

Layla Tipton bagged 2-19 from eight overs, while Kelsey Potter took 2-31.

Eppleton batsman Tipton got Durham off to a good start in reply with 32 from 42 balls, before 50 from Jessica Woolston and an unbeaten 41 from Hollie Forsyth, in 62 balls, led Durham home in 31.4 overs.

Zara Matthew took 3-23.
