Teacher hailed as rising star

A high-flying Sunderland teacher is being fast-tracked to national success.

Victoria Carr is one of the top 100 brightest young teaching stars in the country handpicked for a prestigiou­s future leaders course.

Victoria, a science teacher at Academy 360 in Pennywell, will enroll on the year-long leadership legacy project, SSAT (Schools Students and Teachers), run by outstandin­g leaders across the country.

She will shadow ahead teacher, visit inspiring schools across the country and tap into new teaching networks, which will add momentum to her rapidly rising career.

The 27-year-old, who only began teaching four years ago, was nominated for the project by Academy 360 principal, Rachel Do no hue, who identified her as a future teaching leader.

Victoria was accepted onto the project after a rigorous selection process to identify the UK’s best young teachers with leadership potential.

She said: “I was over the moon when I found out about the fellowship, it’s a prestigiou­s course with only 100 teachers from across the UK.

“My work during the project will contribute into national educationa­l research which is really exciting.

“I’ve had so many opportunit­ies to progress my own teaching in my short time at Academy 360. Ultimately, I’d like to be a headteache­r and the SSAT project will help with me develop the skills and experience I need to achieve my goal.”

Ms Donohue, said: “Victoria demonstrat­es exceptiona­l leadership potential, she has had a huge impact at Academy 360 in her short time here and certainly has a successful career ahead of her.”
