Italian giants AC Milan and Lazio are reported to be weighing up moves for £6million-rated Sunderland striker Fabio Borini.

Borini is expected to leave the Stadium of Light this summer following Sunderland’s relegation to the Championship.

And AC Milan and Lazio are the latest clubs to be linked with a summer swoop for the 26-year-old, who scored just two goals in 26 appearances for the Black Cats last season.

Borini, who had a threemonth spell out with a thigh injury at the start of the season, is understood to be available for around the £6million mark.

Scottish champions Celtic have been strongly linked in recent weeks and now fresh reports from Italy say AC Milan and Lazio will go head-to-head for his signature.

Borini is reported to favour a move back to Italy.

The striker arrived on Wearside in a permanent deal in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £8million from Liverpool.

He endured a frustrating 2016-17 campaign with injuries hampering his season while he also caused eyebrows in the aftermath of the 2-2 draw with West Ham United when he suggested the squad was not as ‘united’ as previous seasons.

Borini did, however, clarify that remark by saying that injuries were the primary reason for that.

The striker scored the late equaliser against the Hammers and then ran towards the dug-out and former manager David Moyes in what seemed like a pointed response to his exclusion from the first XI.

His days on Wearside appear over though with Sunderland having to cash in on several assets as they look to balance the books following relegation to the Championship.

Roma legend Francesco Totti made the final appearance of his 25-year career at the club as they beat Genoa to secure second place in Serie A – and a Champions League group stage place.

The forward, 40, who has scored a record 307 goals in 786 games for Roma, came on in the 54th minute to a standing ovation.

Ex-Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez became Mexico’s leading scorer of all-time by netting in the 2-1 weekend friendly loss to Croatia in Los Angeles.

He nodded home his 47th international goal late in the match which acted as a warm-up for Mexico’s Confederations Cup campaign, which takes place in Russia next month.
