CHEESE CHAMPION:

A champion cheesechaser has equalled the all-time record for the most cheeses won in the death-defying Cheese Rolling Race.

Chris Anderson, 29, has now taken home a total of 20 double Gloucester cheeses over the past 13 years.

After winning all three men’s downhill races this year, he is now level with recordholder Stephen Gyde and has set his sights on breaking the record next year.

NAKED THIEF:

Police are investigating after a naked man was caught on surveillance video driving away from a Florida storage centre in a stolen pickup truck loaded with a statue of a large, black and white checkered swan.

Now deputies are looking for the swan, which was stolen last weekend. In a Facebook posting on Thursday, Polk County Sheriff ’s officials said they know “it’s got to be hard to hide one of these”, adding: “Someone has seen it.” Investigators say they have found the truck that was reported stolen in a nearby county, but they still do not know why the man was naked as he apparently tried to break into Lakeland Cold Storage.

SAILOR’S SURVIVAL:

A New York lobsterman who fell out of his boat into the Atlantic Ocean and survived for 12 hours by floating on his boots is telling his story.

John Aldridge was aboard his boat, the Anna Mary, when the handle on an ice cooler he was moving snapped and sent him into the ocean as his co-captain and crewman slept below deck.

He was rescued by the Coast Guard that had been searching for hours and was headed back to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, when they found him. He tells his tale, which happened in 2013, in the book A Speck In The Sea.
