MICK WATSON – INDEPENDENT

-

I lived through the tough times of the miners’ strike in the North East, times were extremely hard, and as a result, the Conservative Party, I feel, will never prevail here. I am no Tory, but with the best will in the world, I couldn’t vote Labour, due entirely to the disarray evident in the Labour Party. Having made the point, I personally feel the Sunderland Labour Group, must go. Brexit: Labour’s heart is not in Brexit, mine is. Sunderland voted for Brexit 60/40, and demands the best outcome; I would like to take this message to Parliament as your MP. My views are everything must be negotiated, nothing freely conceded, and an eye on the balance of trade, with a bias on the UK which reflects the balance of trade in our favour – simply, we buy more goods from the Eurozone than they buy off us, Brexit, must reflect this. In the matter of migration, the country’s services are currently stretched to bursting, the hospitals are full as are the schools, as is the available housing. This position cannot remain unchecked. We need fair and effective border controls now. Let’s have controlled immigration, let’s have a system that makes sense, economically and fairly, meeting the expectations of the immigrants, while curtailing and ensuring the existing infrastructure can cope. If elected, I would demand robust negotiations with the Eurozone, and fight for every advantage for the UK, nothing conceded freely. I would demand more resource for police frontline officers, cutting the PCC, to fund this if necessary. That’s why I don’t want Labour negotiating Brexit.
