PLATE REGRET:

Donald Trump’s mysterious tweeted typo “covfefe” has caused a stir in the world of personalised number plates.

Maine Department of Motor Vehicles in the US said one driver claimed COVFEFE for a vanity plate just hours after the president’s infamous tweet. It was also reported in other states, including Nebraska and North Carolina, after the word took social media by storm when Mr Trump tweeted about “constant negative press covfefe”.

Whoever claimed the Maine plate remains just as much a mystery as the word itself. Twitter user Joe Blanchette tweeted a photo suggesting he was the lucky motorist, but he then said he backed out at the last minute out of fear of “plate regret”.

WOOF JUSTICE :

A US postwoman has been charged after allegedly feeding at least one dog meatballs containing nails.

Susanna Dawn Burhans was arrested after a joint investigation by Madison County Sheriff ’s Office and the Postal Service determined she fed the nail-laced meatballs to at least one dog in New Hope, Alabama.

Burhans, 47, was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.

DIPLOMA DELAY:

Instead of walking up the aisle to pick up his diploma, a New York City nursing student held his own graduation ceremony with fellow riders after his tube train stalled.

Jerich Alcantara was travelling to Manhattan’s Hunter College for the ceremony when his train got stuck. Mr Alcantara, who was wearing his cap and gown, said that after a delay of minutes turned to hours, his friend played a graduation song and the whole carriage got in on the act.

Video of the ceremony posted on Facebook shows Mr Alcantara’s friend handing him a mock diploma and shaking his hand as passengers wish him well. He finally arrived at the real ceremony just as it was ending.
