Royals boss Jaap Stam said of his fellow Dutchman: “He is a young, very promising player.”

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy has hailed the capture of Wales midfielder Emyr Huws from Cardiff City on a four-year deal.

He impressed on loan last term and ex-Sunderland boss McCarthy said: “Emyr was arguably our best player along with Tom Lawrence and he certainly made us a better team.”

Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has swooped to sign former Derby and Wigan centre-back Jake Buxton for the third time.
