11 things you said about Fabio Borini’s impending move to Italian giants

‘IN HIS FIRST STINT HE WAS MAGIC. HIS SECOND ONE WAS A FARCE’

-

Sunderland striker Fabio Borini looks set for a shock move to Italian giants AC Milan after the Black Cats gave the forward permission to undergo at medical. The 26-year-old had a woeful season as Sunderland were relegated, scoring just twice, but could be playing European football next season. Here’s a selection of comments Echo readers made about the impending transfer.

Michael Walker: No tears shed by most, but thanks for the cash. He’ll probably do well in Italy. Just not cut out for English football. Bye Fabio, thanks for the memories, just not from last season when we needed you!

James Berk: In his first stint he was magic. His second one was a farce. Was it the protracted/ aborted negotiations? Was the club that much worse by the time he made it back? Was he just lazy once he’d signed a proper premier league contract? The club need to do some soul searching on why players so often have this kind of career arc at the club.

Barry Marshall: Maybe Serie A will suit him better. Never really up to the rough & tumble of the English game. Can’t take away those derby goals from him that I hope he treasures as much as we do. Good luck Fabio.

Henry Race: A couple of canny goals and a couple of canny games. Other than that we’ve had a lot of anonymous and disinterested performances and a lot of petulance, sulking and arrogance from him.

Arnold Alton: I will remember him as the Mag Slayer. Maybe last season he was recovering from a longish injury which most people don’t take into consideration. If we could afford it he would be

very useful in the Championship but I imagine he’ll prefer to go home or sign for some Premiership club in the bottom half of the League.

James Newton: To get 5.3 mill for him is a great deal for us considering how bad he was last year.

Scott Crosby: Hope he does well, don’t blame him for going thanks for the memories fab .

Peter John Rodriguez: Would be alright for Championship. Tries hard but just not very good.

Bryan Burrow: Good luck. Very good player who gave his all.

Tom Woodward: Another one that needs replacing.

Andy Frater: Fabio Borini has the best agent in any sport not just football

Chris Black: A spineless shell of the player we had on loan. Good riddance.

Derek Johnston: Any deal that sees the back of him is a good deal

Chris Gooch: £99.99 would be a good deal. Plus add ons.

Liam Brennan: Good luck to him but how he has got a move that big is beyond me

Kieran Young: Fabio Borini must have a belta agent Gareth Hern: Really shows how far AC Milan have fallen
