SUNDERLAND SOFTWARE CITY BUSINESS SET TO SHINE IN THE US

-

A North East tech business, designed to help businesses to find and recruit the brightest talent, is expanding into the US after signing a deal. Sunderland based Shine, a video interviewing platform that allows businesses to remotely assess candidates’ suitability for a role, before taking them to formal interview, has signed a deal with a Kentucky based reseller, that will see it take the app to market in North America. Set up by technology trailblazer David Copple, Shine has already made in-roads in the UK market, signing a number of deals with national retail and FMCG brands. The new arrangement with Scout Solutions, which pairs companies with talent and products, will see Shine grow a client base in south-eastern America, before it sets its sights on expansion into the West Coast and New York. Managing director of Shine, David – who was previously a board level director at technology business The Test Factory – said: “The US presents a huge opportunity for us, and – having seen healthy growth in the UK – the chance to reach out overseas was one we could not pass by. “We know that the US is highly receptive to disruptive technology, and Shine is just that. The technology can save businesses thousands of man-hours in recruitment, amounting to thousands or even millions of pounds or dollars, so this is a no-brainer for businesses with heavy recruitment costs. “As technology evolves, it is incredible to think that recruitment processes have largely remained unchanged, so making use of video to interview more efficiently makes complete sense. “Shine is phenomenally scalable technology, and the early signs are that this will be hugely popular in the US. “This deal is the first step to expand into the territory, but we are optimistic that it is the start of significant growth overseas and we’ll be targeting other places in the near future.”
