CITY IN FOR WALKER

MANCHESTER CITY LAUNCH BIG-MONEY MOVE TO LAND TOTTENHAM’S ENGLAND FULL-BACK

-

Manchester City are reported to have begun talks to land Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker.

Negotiations could well take a long time, given the determination of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to drive the best deal possible.

Spurs have reportedly agreed a new five-year deal with fellow right-back Kieran Trippier, which could open the way for Mauricio Pochettino to allow Walker, who had made 183 league appearances for the Londoners, to join City.

Still on the right-back front, Juventus have confirmed the release of Dani Alves, paving the way for a possible reunion with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

The 34-year-old Brazilian right-back, who played under Guardiola at Barcelona, announced earlier this week he was leaving the Serie A champions.

City have been linked heavily with the player since releasing right-backs Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna at the end of last season.

Alves only joined Juve last summer and leaves midway through a two-year contract. His single campaign in Turin was interrupted by a broken leg suffered last November but he returned to help the club to a Serie A and Coppa Italia double.

Swansea City have signed Dutch goalkeeper Erwin Mulder on a free transfer, penning a three-year deal.

The 28-year-old arrives at the Liberty Stadium having turned down a new contract at Eredivisie club Heerenveen, for whom he played for the last two years.

Mulder said: “I am very happy to be here. The Premier League is the biggest league in the world. As a player, you want to be part of that.

“I know a little bit about the club. I spoke with (fellow Dutchmen) Leroy Fer and Mike van der Hoorn.

“They told me some good things about the club.”

Swansea have also sufferd a blow, with Spanish striker Fernando Llorente fracturing a lower arm bone on holiday. The club, though, expect the 32-year-old, who hit 15 goals in their surge to safety last season, to be fit in time for the start of the Premier League season on August 12.

Celtic have completed the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Kundai Benyu from Ipswich. The teenager has agreed a four-year contract and will meet up with his team-mates on their Austrian training camp.

Benyu never played for Ipswich but scored five goals in 23 appearances on loan at Vanarama National League side Aldershot in the second half of last season.

Hibs have signed Israel keeper Ofir Marciano on a four-year contract from Ashdod for an undisclosed fee.

Hull have reportedly agreed a deal to sell Shaun Maloney to Aberdeen.
