South Hylton upset leaders

South Hylton rocked leaders Washington Snooker with a 4-1 away win in the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League.

They got off to an excellent start, with Adam Smith beating Roful Hoque on the final pink 61-49 and Graham Rutland winning the second frame against Steven Thompson, with the aid of a 21 break, 83-55.

Norman Leslie pulled one back for Washington, beating Ian Stewart 62-37 before Kevin Harrop potted well to beat Gary Bell on the final black 54-47.

In the pairs, a 27 clearance by Adam Smith, when paired with Bobby Boyce, won Hylton the frame for an excellent 4-1 win.

A result that makes the last few weeks of the season very interestin­g.

Graeme Ablett got Whitburn off to a good start away at Biddick B, winning a close first frame against Trevor Walton 49-39.

Joe Cromby won the second frame beating Peter Mills 75-29 before John Smith won the third frame beating Paul Cobb 51-41.

Craig Barron made his first appearance of the season and won the fourth frame against John Temple 64-35.

Philip Straughan/Peter Mills won Biddick a consolatio­n point beating Graeme Ablett/Joe Cromby in the pairs 62-49 to reduce the defeat to 4-1.

Mill View entertaine­d Glendale and got off to a good start, as Lee Dixon was in fine form winning the first frame against Thomas Gwyn 57-21.

John Danby levelled the match, potting an excellent final pink and black to pinch the frame from Howard Lax 58-46.

John Wiseman moved Glendale into the lead beating Norman Brown 55-31 before Paul Atkinson won the fourth frame beating Steve Chandler 60-25.

In the pairs, Howard Lax/ Lee Dixon beat Frank McParlin/Paul Atkinson 56-30 to reduce the defeat to 3-2.

Andrew Doran got Penny- well Comrades off to a good start away at Murton Colliery beating Ryan Lowes on the final black 56-51.

Eddie Williamson quickly levelled the match beating Steve Smith 50-42.

Anthony Longstaff moved Pennywell back into the lead beating Stephen Cook 55-29.

Stephen Clementson won a high-scoring fourth frame against Joe Turner 69-58 before teaming up with Eddie Williamson to win the pairs, beating Stuart Taylor/Anthony Longstaff 55-34 for the 3-2 win.

In other results, Lumley welcomed Seaham Conservati­ves A and won 3-2 while Seaham Conservati­ves B went down 3-2 to The Victory.

Biddick A travelled to The Hetton Centre and lost 3-2.
