Wood climbs up Knack table

Tony Wood continued his climb up the table in Week 20 of The Knack Premier Darts League with two wins.

Wood, who started at the foot of the table when he first joined, moved inside the top 20 for the first time after beating David Brown 5-0 and John Watson 5-1 with the help of three maximums and a superb 130 checkout and best legs of 14,17 and two 18 darters.

Davy Richardson hit the league’s third maximum 170 finish of the season as he romped to a 5-0 win over Paul McGowan, which included best legs of 12, 17, 19 and 20 darts.

Richardson also beat Anth Skelton 5-2 in a high-scoring encounter with Richardson hitting a 180 in a best leg of 13 darts while Skelton hit two 180s and had a best leg of 15 darts.

However, Richardson was thumped in his third game of the evening against league leader Ryan Joyce, who hit two maximums and winning legs of 15, 16, 18, 19 and 21 darts as he stormed to a 5-1 victory, with Richardson hitting a 180 in an 18-darter in reply. Joyce hit two 180s as he powered to a 5-0 win in his other game against Dougie Hall.

Dave Prins kept the heat up on Joyce with two comfortabl­e victories.

First was Neil Rose, who proved no match for a brilliant Prins as he won the first three legs in 14,1 2 and 15 darts aided by two 180s and 108 and 121 checkouts.

Prins won the next to legs to complete a whitewash victory before seeing off Rob McCluskey by the same scoreline with a 136 finish and a best leg of 14 darts,

Rose had more success later as he hammered Dan Gillibrand 5-0.

Gillibrand had earlier beat John Watson 5-2.

Davey Thompson had two comfortabl­e 5-1 victories over Anthony Gale and Matthew Hodgson.

Graham Mullen produced two excellent displays as he beat Matthew Hodgson 5-1 before edging a fantastic game against Graeme Hills,

Hills was also beat in his first game against Paul Williams 5-1.

Chris Vaughan remains in fifth spot as he took maximum points with wins against Andrew Ambler and Darren Patton,

Patton was a 5-1 winner in his first game against Anthony Gale and also drew 4-4 with Alan Smith in his third game,

Ambler bounced back as he thrashed David Brown 5-0,

Allen George closed the gap to the coveted Top 11 places with two wins,

First, he beat Arran Samuels 5-3 before seeing off Will Neave 5-2, Samuels hit 17 and 19 dart legs as he beat Alan Smith 5-0 while Neave was a surprising 5-1 winner over Eddie Ashman,

Samuels was a 5-0 winner over Alan Smith in his other game.

Spiller Henderson continued his excellent season with yet another two wins.

He beat McCluskey 5-2 before a 5-1 win over Anth Skleton. Richard Selby picked up nine points on the night with a 5-2 win over Paul McGowan before two 5-0 wins over McCluskey and Ross Guy, McGowan drew his third game 4-4 with Dougie Hall, Guy was beaten 5-0 by by Philly Dunn.
