Paul Williams hits top form

-

Paul Williams hit top form in the Knack Darts League this week as he moved to within three points of leader Ryan Joyce with two superb performances.

He beat Davey Thompson 5-2 before seeing off Dan Gillibrand 5-1.

Ryan Joyce narrowly beat an impressive Andrew Ambler 5-3 in his opener.

Eddie Ashman rolled back the years as he ended Neil Rose’s slim chance of a top 11 spot with a superb performance. Ashman then held third placed Dave Prins to a 4-4 draw.

Tony Wood dented Paul McGowan’s hopes of a Grand Finals night place as he defied two maximums by “Gow” to run out a 5-1 winner. Wood then held Ryan Joyce to a 4-4 draw.

McGowan hit two maximums as he hammered Matthew Hodgson 5-0.

Davey Thompson recovered from his earlier loss to Williams as he whitewashed both Alan Smith and an out of sorts Graham Mullen to all but secure his place on finals night,

Mullen had earlier edged a tight 5-3 win over Smith to keep himself in the frame for finals night.

The Race for fourth spot looks like going down to the wire between Richard Selby and Chris Vaughan who both collected four points this week.

Selby had to settle for a draw against the improving Darren Patton. Selby was then a comfortable 5-1 winner over Will Neave.

Vaughan had to dig deep to pinch a draw against a much improved showing by a heavy scoring Rob McCluskey.

Vaughan then had an impressive 5-2 win over Davy “The Face” Richardson,

Richardson hit two 18 darters in a 5-2 win over David Brown in his other game to secure his Grand Finals night spot in his debut season,

Brown earlier lost by the same scoreline to Dougie Hall,

Brown did manage a win in his other game, a 5-2 win over Matthew Hodgson.

Spiller Henderson took all six points on the night with two routine wins over Anthony Gale (5-0) and Philly Dunn (5-2) as he secured his first finals night spot at the seventh attempt,

Gale was a 5-2 winner over Ross Guy in his other game while Dunn beat Will Neave 5-1.

Allen George is clinging on to his 11th place as he battled to two draws this week,

He was involved in a high quality affair with “Washer” John Watson then drew with Neil Rose in his other game. Watson beat Dougie Hall 5-2.
