Franks expects goals to be spread around Pools side

-

Jonathan Franks might be leading the Hartlepool United revival but insists goals should and will be shared around the side.

Franks, who rejoined National League Pools last month after two years in Scotland, has scored twice in the last two games.

The 27-year-old smacked home the winner at Guiseley last week and followed that up with a rare header against Maidstone at the weekend.

Since the depsarture of the club’s most prolific marksman, Padraig Amond, Pools have now found the net four times, having scored only three in the previous seven.

Franks does feel there is added onus on not just him following Amond’s transfer to Newport County, but all the players.

Defender Keith Watson notched his first goal since his loan move while Connor Simpson headed in his first senior goal to seal the victory which moved Pools out of the bottom four.

“We’ve obviously got a few attacking lads in the team,” said F ranks .“If we play like that then we’ve got a few lads in the side capable of scoring.

“It’s a tough league and when you create some chances, like we did against Maidstone, we’ve got to make sure we take them.”

Franks says he was highly impressed by the way not only 17-year-old Simpson converted his cross to get off the mark but how he has settled into senior football.

“Connor has done well to get in the team and he did well against Maidstone, he really put himself about,” said Franks.

“It was great to see him get on the scoresheet.”
