Plastics are fantastic as they send champions packing

Sunderland Sunday League TC Plastics recorded their first win of the season against Premier Division champions Hylton Castle TWR.

Luke Bell was in fine form for the Plasticmen, smashing a hat-trick past Chris Smith in the Hylton goal.

Tommy Callaghan hit two to get Hylton back into the game. Josh Farquar then added a double for the away side but Hylton kept on knocking and they hit further goals from Wooton and Pearson but Plastics held on for a 5-4 win.

The points were shared in the Premier tie as league title hopefuls RCA Grangetown Florists and SR Dons played out an entertaini­ng 1-1 draw. Place fired the Florists goal and David Hall replied for the Dons.

Luke Taylor’s fine display encouraged the Victoria Gardens to a hard fought win over Ryhope Forresters. He scored along with Golightly, Humble and Richie Jordan. Dale Spence shone for Forresters.

Thorney Close made a statement in the First Division win a great 3-1 win over league leaders Ryhope Top House.

Aaron Forrest scored twice for Thorney before Brooke hit a beauty for Top House. Ross Antliff made sure of the win to get Thorney back on track.

Washington Colliery 1-6 Ashbrooke Hendon

Keiron Moan was in dazzling form for Ashbrooke Hendon as he ran Washington Colliery ragged and bagged a hat-trick in the process.

Hen don had Ackro yd, Newby and Reay score to make it 6-0. Skeoch came of the bench for Washington to hit their solitary goal.

Dan Pearson’s brace succumbed AFC Wearside to another defeat as the Board Inn recorded another three points to see then take to the top of the Second Division. Trotter earned the star man award.

Grange Park took another three points off whipping boys AFC Donkins has they continue to struggle in the league. Conlin hit a hat-trick followed a Shaun Fisk effort the. Connor Gilbert hit Donkins’ only goal.

In the Third Division, Wear United went down 2-1 against Millfield Free Gardeners.

Wear United will feel this was a game they should have comfortabl­y won but the Free Gardeners had other plans. Star player Michael Walters hit United’s only goal and strikes from Giles and Miller won it for the visitors

Lakeside nearly grabbed all three points against Pensahw CC but Jonathan Snelling rescued a point for Penshaw with his hat-trick to take a share of the spoils.

Barr as and Thompson double had Lakeside cruising but Snelling had plans.

Millview got their first win of the season against Fourth Division new boys AFC Houghton.

Superstar striker Liam Middlemiss scored four himself followed by Hall and Paul Middlemiss to make it six. Houghton hit a couple of late efforts but didn’t worry Millview.

Life is tough for Washington Juniors Blue Bell, who had Watson shine, as they suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat from the youthful Herrington side.

Cook (3), Guthrie (2), Ridley and Smith did the damage for Herrington who go joint top in the fourth tier.

The Terminus got the bragging rights as they enjoyed a 5-0 win in their local derby against Witherwack.

Paul Muir started the Terminus off with a double then the goals flowed from Stavers, Robson and Hildrew. Defty done his best for Witherwack.

In the Total Sport Challenge Trophy, The Royal Marine had a little bit more than Washington Tavern to take the win.

It finished 3-1 and Tavern gave all they could and Stoddart found the net. The Marine rallied back and had Marshall, Raeburn and Marc Robson score to put them in the hat for the next round.

In the same competitio­n, Washington Teal Farm enjoyed a 2-0win over Victory Club

Two goals from Lee Cuthbertso­n saw Teal Farm advance into the next round. Smiles stood out for the away side and Dan Pearson was starman for Teal Farm.
