DAVIS’ DELIGHT AS RYHOPE PRODUCE STUNNING EFFORT

A stunning display by Ryhope CW saw them in seventh heaven after their first qualifying round win over Guisboroug­h Town.

The Wearsiders got their FA Vase campaign off to a flying start with a 7-1 smashing of their Northern League rivals.

Ryhope took the lead in the very first minute, through Corey Nicholson, only for the Priorymen to equalise five minutes later through a Steve Roberts strike.

Matthew Weirs made it 2-1 after eight minutes and that was how it stood at half time.

The second half was all about Kyle Davis, however. He helped himself to four goals in the (47, 54, 72 & 87), with Joseph Melvin scoring in the 80th minute, for a resounding win to put them through to the next round, where they will face Northaller­ton Town at home.

Joint manager Gary Pearson said: “It was very convincing win and a wake-up call for the team, after the 3-0 home defeat in midweek, to Dunston.

“We made a few changes and Kyle Davis is still not match fit yet with his cricket commitment­s, but showed his desire and skills to score four goals and proved the justificat­ion to bring him on as substitute.

“We were very good and justified the 7-1 scoreline.”

Seaham Red Star hosted Albion Sports from Bradford and duly won the match 2-0.

However, it took until the 71st minute, to break thedeadloc­kwhenLiamM­cBryde chested the ball home, from a Callum Munro cross.

The second goal came when Ashley Davis side-footed the ball home with five minutes left. Chester-leStreet entertaine­d West Yorkshire outfit Silsden. The Cestrians took a 19th-minute lead through Alexander Walker, only for the visitors to equalise on 35 minutes through Kyle Hancock.

Chester regained the lead on 74 minutes through Lee Mole, but the visitors hit back immediatel­y from a Mark Trueman effort and then just four minutes later, won the tie with Hancock’s second goal of the game.

Easington Colliery travelled to Ashington and lost by 3-0, with the goals coming from Ben Harmison (13 & 72) and a 66th-minute strike by Victor Manquillo, brother of Newcastle United right-back Javier.

Hebburn Town went to Wearside League outfit Stokesley and won 8-0, with two players getting three each.

Channon North hit hattrick, as did Gary Shaw, with further goals from Glen Hargrave and Samuel Bramley.

Crook Town travelled to Tow Law Town and lost by a single goal, going down 3-2.

Adam Nicholls on three minutes and Lewis Teasdale on nine minutes, put Tow Law 2-0 up, only for Crook to fight back through Chris Emms on 45 minutes and Dale Elgin four minutes later.

But Dean Thexton, with 10 minutes to go, rifled home the winner, to progress Tow Law through to the next round.

Esh Winning went out after losing 2-0 at home to Penrith, with two goals from Shaun Gardner and Adam Main for the visiting Cumbrians.

Brandon United went down 3-2 at home to Bishop Auckland – though they threatened to cause a huge upset.

United took a shock 2-0 lead through Vincent Gash (14) and Jason White (24), but Bishops came roaring back, with a 27th-minute penalty from Priestley Griffiths and then equalised on 58 minutes, through a Stuart Thompson effort.

The winner came with just four minutes left, when Thomas McAloon fired home the winner.
