Sub Kyle Scott’s double and an effort from Jai Young sank Easington Welfare 3-1, with Joe Taboun responding.

Peterlee Helford United are a point behind after a comfortabl­e 5-1 win against champions Dawdon Welfare Park, who sit at the bottom of the table.

Gary Shaw (2), Daniel Reeves, Philip Hickman and Amir Kamil Di Di found the target, with Lee Chapman notching for Dawdon, whose star man was Paul Atkinson.

Man of the match Stephen Turner and Andrew Upperton set up Murton Colliery for a 2-0 victory over Easington Colliery Club Mechanics.

Reece Williams stood out for the Mechanics.

In Division Two, Graham Hornsby’s brace earned Easington Leather Cap a 2-2 draw against leaders New Seaham Westlea, who had Tom Farrell and Alex Hutchinson on target.

Peterlee Central Club and Acre Rigg SC drew 1-1, with man of the match Chris Ramplin and Craig Tweddle the scorers.

Peterlee Hearts bagged a first league win as two-goal Michael Coates, Dave Kember and Steven Freeman saw off Sherburn United 4-1, with James Rowe replying.

Easington Southside climbed five places in Division One after a 6-2 hammering of Seaham Marlboroug­h.

Martin Dunn (2), Matt Billyard, Stuart Softley, Adam Brown and Darren Massam were the Southside marksmen, with Andy Johnston and Adam Hepple replying.

Easington CIU are the new leaders, on goal difference, after trouncing Seaham The George 7-0.

Liam Adamson’s hat-trick was supported by Jordan Williams (2), Simon Todd and Ryan Barrow.

Horden Cricket Club enjoyed a first win, 6-2 against Trimdon Royal Oaks, with Reece Brymer firing a hattrick.

James Lowery (2) and Dan Gething also notched, with Niall Salmon and Martin Mason striking for Oaks.

Shotton Comrades secured a 3-2 first-leg lead against Peterlee Catholic Club in their Premier Division Cup tie.

Jamie Yorke, Lee Westgarth and sub Lliam Cockerill did the damage, with Shane O’Brien and Jamie Gray responding.

In the First Division Cup, Graham Hall’s brilliant treble, plus efforts from Ian Morrell and Mark Hartley, gave South Hetton Cricket Club a commanding 5-2 first-leg lead against struggling Seaham Parkside.

Michael Kennedy hit both replies, with keeper David Pipe the top performer for the visitors.
