Hope sparks Hall Farm’s cup cruise

Hall Farm Glasshus eased to a con­vinc­ing League Cup win away to city ri­vals Hyl­ton Sports Club.

The pre­lim­i­nary round tie saw Farm run out 7-1 vic­tors, in­spired by star man Martin Hope’s hat-trick.

An­drew Tat­ters, Stephen Wright, Reece McEwan and Ke­iron Gleghorn also got in on the act.

In the league, champs Wheat­ley Hill WMC ended early-sea­son pace-set­ters Hor­den Com­mu­nity Wel­fare’s per­fect record with a hard-fought 2-1 tri­umph.

Lewis Ed­wards and David Jack­son notched the cru­cial goals to help Wheat­ley main­tain their 100% start with a fourth win. Richard Carr was the hosts’ man of the match as they drew level on points with their vis­i­tors.

New­com­ers Hor­den, who had won their pre­vi­ous four games, had star man Jamie Yorke on the score­sheet.

Durham City Re­serves se­cured their first vic­tory of the sea­son at the fourth at­tempt, thanks to a com­fort­able home win against Jar­row Re­serves.

Man of the match Joe Whe­lan bagged one of the goals in a 4-0 suc­cess, with Rob­son Brown, sub Jor­dan Ni­chol­son and James Hud­speth also on tar­get.

Adam Car­lin stood out for bot­tom club Jar­row.

West Auck­land Tunns proved too strong for Seaton United, beat­ing the new­com­ers 5-2.
