Newcastle-born pianist Sarah Beth Briggs, a leading recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician, will be the guest. This will be Sarah’s sixth visit to Sunderland. There’s to be an open day and autumn fair at Greenside Court, Thorney Close, on Saturday, September 30, from 11am to 1pm. The day will include a tour of Greenside Court, which provides warm, safe and secure properties for people aged 55 and over. Cleadon Village Churches Pastoral Network meets tonight for a friendly get-together with drinks and nibbles at 7.30pm. This has become an annual event. On Thursday at 7.15pm, there will be an open evening hosted by the Pastoral Care Group in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints’ parish hall. Maria Scurfield, from South Tyneside Churches Together, will lead a Dementia Friends Awareness session in connection with the Dementia Friendly Churches project. Refreshmen­ts will be available and everyone is welcome to come along. The Inner Wheel Club of Harton is holding an afternoon tea with musical entertainm­ent on Friday at 2pm in All Saints’ parish hall. Tickets are £5. Proceeds are in aid of the club’s charities. Compass Acapella, the close harmony men’s choir, which rehearses in Cleadon Village Church of England Academy, is giving a concert in The King’s Hall, Newcastle University, on Saturday at 7.30pm. The concert is in aid of The Grafters Club, which is based in the RVI for children who have suffered burns injuries. The Men’s Fellowship of All Saints’ Church meets on Monday at 7.30pm in the committee room of the parish hall. This is the first meeting after the summer break.
