Kennedy strike can’t help Seaham Parkside in 2-1 defeat

In the First Division, Horden Cricket Club climbed up to third in the table beating Seaham Parkside 2-1.

Michael Kennedy replied for the Parkside who finished the match with 10 men after Kevin Price was shown a straight red card.

Horden CW Supporters Club are the new leaders of the Premier Division after winning 5-3 over Easington Welfare.

Joe Taboun (2) and Kieran Mitchell replied for the Welfare. A goal from Ryan Taylor was not enough for Easington Lane WMC when they were beaten 3-1 against Dawdon Welfare Park

A Paul Atkinson brace and a strike from Kyle Middleton were the marksmen for the Welfare who moved out of the bottom two.

In Division Two, Easington Leather Cap are the new leaders after a brace from Graham Hornsby plus further efforts from Tom Williams, Joshua Lincoln and sub Carl Stephenson helped them to a 5-3 win against Wingate Grange. Peterlee Central suffered a crushing 6-1 defeat to Sherburn United whose goals came from Nathan Cummings, James Raine, Kevin Ambler and a hat-trick from Mike Barker. In the second preliminar­y round of the Durham County Sunday Cup, Murton Colliery FC made progress after goals from Stephen Turner, Haydon Pace and Ryan Pinder saw them beat Sunderland Farringdon Detached 3-2.

Hetton Lyons FC received a bye after their opponents Bishop Auckland Bay Horse withdrew at the last minute.

Also receiving a bye were Easington Welfare.

Peterlee Catholic Club beat Durham Woodman 7-1 while Easington Southside beat Stockton Story Tellers 3-1.

Wingate Howden beat Bowburn FC on penalties after the game finished 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Trimdon Royal Oaks lost 4-2 to Sunderland Jolly Potters while Matthew Johnson and Asa Lockhurst were both on target for South Hetton Cricket Club in losing 7-2 to Sunderland Redhouse Last Orders.

Haswell Oddfellows Arms suffered a crushing 5-0 defeat to Sunderland Royal Marine while a goal from Leighton Howard for Seaham the George had no bearing on their 7-1 hammering against Sunderland TC Plastics. Seaham Marlboroug­h lost 5-2 to Shildon Elm Road WMC.
